Comic-Con 2011

I am back from San Diego's Comic Con! It is the largest comic, sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, toys, animation and pop culture festival in North America.  I have been before with my humans, and it's always a good time.

Comic-Con has over 100,000 attendees.  With so many people there, you are bound to run into someone you know! I  got to meet my good friend Cute Bear (@iamthebear on Twitter)!

It is always so wonderful to meet my Twitter friends.

Gray Rabbit got to meet Cute Bear also. He even let me wear his hat a little bit.

I also made a new friend at the Con! I met him on Twitter! His name is @TravelingMocha on Twitter.  He is a monkey who travels with his humans, so we have a lot in common.  I'm already looking forward to meeting him again at Comic-Con next year.

My humans didn't see a lot of people in costume that they wanted to take photos of. But we liked this guy, who clearly appreciates the Fluffy (and the movie "Despicable Me").

I met this large Pink Bunny as well.  He will protect me if anyone is mean.

One of my favorite new friends was Babe the Blue Ox, from the Comic Book series Fables.  Now Fables is our FAVORITE comic book, so meeting Babe was a real star sighting indeed!!

You should check out Fables if you haven't already.

Turtle vs. Bunny, huh? I know who's winning.

We like the Reed Gunther comic books, and the guys who draw and write it are so nice, they made a comic book my size!

I love this drawing.  I am a Comic-Con Bun! Chari Pere, I think I love you.

Comic-Con 2011 was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to Comic-Con 2012!

Pink Bunny goes to Comic Con!

Hi all! Just wanted to say that I will be going to Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend! I've been before several times, so I know the ropes.  Follow me for all the most exciting panels, newsworthy scoops and best celebrity sightings...OH WHO AM I KIDDING?!? I am a rabbit!

The truth is, my humans couldn't even get 4 day passes! *sad ears* It wasn't their fault, though.  I heard some frog was to blame.  So we only have passes for two days and we will miss some cool stuff that we wish we could go to.

[And my humans are still bitter about not going last year, which apparently had panels made of rainbows and chocolate cake, and gave away gold bars in the swag bags, to hear them tell it.]

But there's a lot of cool stuff that we WILL see and do. One of which will be me having my photo taken with humans pretending to be someone else, and I'll tweet the Con from a Pink Bunny perspective.  Which is largely a perspective inside of a medium sized purse.  But still. It's COMIC-CON.

If you're going to be there too, here are some helpful tips:

Keep an eye out!  I may be in one of the purses in your vicinity.  But don't go looking in random women's purses to find me.  That's just rude.

What is "Real?"

Some people on Twitter make comments about me not being "Real" and it hurts my feelings.  I asked my good friend Henry about this, and he gave me wise and sage advice as always:

But I also found some wonderful advice from another bunny questioning what being "Real" meant, and I thought I might share it here.

From THE VELVETEEN RABBIT
By Margie W. Bianco

"What is Real?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real, you can't be ugly except to people who don't understand."

"I suppose you are Real," said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled.

The boy's uncle made me Real," he said. "That was a great many years ago, but once you are real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always."
